Large Abstract

Large abstract oil paintings over 100cm, built through an arduous, physical process — energetic applications of impasto oil paint applied with a large squeegee to create texture and extraordinary depth.

The paintings are constructed through layering, scraping and reworking, where surface becomes the primary subject. The influence of Gerhard Richter is present in the use of the squeegee as a tool for both control and chance.

Bold colour and shifting light effects place the work in dialogue with abstract expressionism, while remaining grounded in contemporary painting and ideas of process and material rather than fixed imagery.

​

These large-scale abstract oil paintings are suited to both domestic and corporate interiors. The compositions can be rotated, offering multiple orientations and readings within a single work.
