    BEGINNING SATURDAY 3RD. FEB 2024 ! This All Day Two Part Painting Class gets you going in the right direction to begin and inform your wish to become an Oil Painter. Additionally if you wish for success in any medium other than oil, you will find Allan's clear explanation of the colour wheel an easy to follow, essential guide for your future practice. With numbers limited to no more than three, this class is the next best thing to personal tuition with all students able to have maximum attention and guidance. ONE DAY TWO STEPS PAINTING PLAN Getting You Painting in OIL ...... Two Easy Steps is all it takes on Allan's Two Part Plan designed to get you going in the right direction with the basics of oil painting. STEP 1 : The Essentials 11.00am -12.30pm A basic knowledge of colour is critical for the oil painter and in this session we will cover essential colour mixing enabling you to create and match all the wonderful colours necessary to create your future works. You will learn all about Primary, complimentary secondary, tertiary colours Relationships between colour combinations, oppositional energising and harmonious colours. Warm and cool colours. How to mix a custom palette and save money when purchasing your “start up” colour palette tube paints. You are now ready to tackle your first painting. Break STEP 2 : Paint Your Picture 1.30pm -4.30pm. Paint Materials and images provided. Please supply your own canvas and we will provide an image or bring your own image if you want to paint a favourite. You will learn and have continuing support with - composition, canvas wash, blocking in, bringing your painting to completion. Finding and developing your own style, application techniques, impasto and/or thin glazing, colour saturation, blending, painting wet on wet, volume, perspective and much more. THINGS TO REMEMBER This Class in Allan's easy to find and access Twickenham studio, is only 5 mins walk from Twickenham mainline station. Please bring a canvas or canvas board no longer than 30cm. on the longest side and protective clothing. Oil paint can be messy!! Coffee/Tea Provided.     BEGINNING SUNDAY 4TH February 2024 Our Sunday PM Painting Club-Class with support and guidance from Allan Storer MA. is held on the first Sunday of every month (unless stated otherwise) is your opportunity to create your own painting and the ideal "Follow On" Part II, to Allan Storer's Part I Beginners Class. This is your opportunity to refine your skills and knowledge base, Develop your specific individual painting style and Focus on seeing yourself as an artist worthy of praise and recognition. Learning as part of a group enables you to feel supported and connected to those around you and incidentally also ticks one of the Five Steps To Wellbeing boxes too, and Don't forget you also have guidance and tips from professional artist Allan Oil paints are an amazing versatile medium to work with, from quick Alla-prima oil canvas sketches to abstract and photo-realistic oil work. Made from a combination of dry pigments with linseed oil. Oil Paint takes longer to dry than acrylics but the big advantage is that oil paint can be manipulated and worked on longer, enabling the you to tweak, alter, soften and blend your work without worrying it will dry too quickly. The end results are creative subtle paintings with depth and longer lasting beauty whether they are classic oil painting techniques, impressionistic or abstract. With Ongoing Support, Get to Understand- - the right palette and oil painting ideas - underpainting and fat-over-lean techniques - the right consistency for your paints and mediums - tips to help you choose the right brushes, canvas, mediums and tools to get you started Please bring a canvas larger length side size 30cm. If you are working on a larger canvas please supply your own oils or chat with Allan. Although brushes are supplied it is a good idea to bring your own if you have favourites and likewise bring your own image if you have a favourite.

Additionally if you wish for success in any medium other than oil, you will find Allan's clear explanation of the colour wheel an easy to follow, necessary guide for future practice. Please do not think as many do the colour wheel is a simple school exercise you completed years ago. Most artists will tell you colour theory underlies all successful painting and cannot be underestimated. ITS WORTH IT ! Part I The Essentials 11.3Oam -1.00pm Know how to mix a custom palette and save "big money" when purchasing your oil paints. We will cover the basic knowledge of oil paint and colour mixing in this Part I session enabling you to create and match all the wonderful colours necessary to create your future works. Learn About Primary, complimentary secondary, tertiary colours Relationships between colour combinations, oppositional energising and harmonious colours. Warm and cool colours. Prepare to tackle your first painting. Break Part II : Consolidate, Create 2.00 pm-5.00pm OIL PAINTING CLUB This session is a great opportunity to develop and put into practice everything learnt in the morning session and enjoy the company of like minded art lovers where you can continue to develop your skills and painting style in a vibrant 'painting club" atmosphere with continued support from Allan. Bring along your own image or choose one provided by Allan and he will lead you on the basics of composition, canvas wash, colour blocking, application, wet on wet, developing your style, impasto and/or thin glazing, colour saturation, blending, painting , volume, perspective and much more to bring your painting to completion. You now have a good basic knowledge to kick start your future in oil painting. Oil Paint Materials and images provided. Though please supply your own canvas and we will provide an image or bring your own image if you want to paint a favourite. Incidentally it is a good idea at this stage to bring along your own carefully maintained paint brushes, although we can supply if you are unable to.
